FYP4012 - Working in a Multi Agency Environment

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Evaluate the work of a range of children’s services, their roles and responsibilities
2 Critically review legislation related to multi agency working
3 Debate cases where errors have occurred to review procedures and outcomes
4 Evaluate their own work place and personal practice in terms of a multi agency, coordinated response to children’s, young people’s and families’ welfare and support.

Content:

This module introduces students to the roles and responsibilities of those agencies charged with children’s, young people’s and families’ welfare, health, social care and education.

The module will include a study of:
• Government guidelines and papers related to multi agency working
• Local provision for coherence in children’s services
• Media representations of cases where errors have occurred
• Strategies and policies for the workplace
Effective communication strategies for recording and reporting relevant information regarding children, young people or adults in their care.

The module will have generic themes and issues, which students will be expected to apply to their own experiences and work setting.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will be through a range of lectures, workshops and tutorials. Students will be expected to draw on a range of sources including their own working experiences. Group discussion and tasks will form a significant proportion of the College based learning to develop relevant analytical skills. Students will record their development within a Personal Development Log.
