EDS6052 - Modern Technologies in Education

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Critically review the development of learning technologies in education
2 Evaluate the impact of the use of technology on the learning experience
3 Critically analyse the data related to the use of technology across education
4 Develop a resource demonstrating good practice in the use of technology in learning

Content:

In this module students will be expected to evaluate the use of technology in education from a curriculum, user and teaching perspective. Students will be expected to review the positive and possible negative impact of technologies and the expected future use in educational settings.
Students will review the use of technology from nursery to higher education and examine relevant research in the field.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.

001 1 x 2500 word essay (end of semester 1) 60%
