On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Evaluate a range of literature and research related to a defined field of study
2 Research an aspect of the sociological, psychological, philosophical or historical perspective of education
3 Critically reflect on an aspect of practical or theoretical research and the relationship between theory and practice
4 Manage their own time and reflect on their development as a researcher
This is a self study module where students develop – with tutorial support – an area of interest for research. It can be a practical research project or a literature based research analysis. Students are expected to demonstrate an ability to review literature and research, analyse their reading in light of practical experiences and critically evaluate their project process.
Students would be expected to research an aspect of:
• Learning theory
• Curriculum or educational practice
• A sociological, psychological, philosophical or historical element of education studies
• An inclusion issue
OR
• Current issue for debate in education
This is a self-managed module with some lecture input and individual tutorials.
