On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Analyse their career potential
2 Successfully complete a long term piece of volunteering with children, young people and families demonstrating appropriate skills and commitment
3 Evaluate their theoretical understanding in a practical context; critically reflect on their personal and professional development
This module will involve three stages: preparation, work placement and reflection.
Preparation: students will undergo a series of workshops in which they will re-consider their employability skills, analyse their career prospects and undertake the practicalities of gaining and undertaking a work placement in a relevant occupation related to their field of study.
Volunteering placement: students will find themselves an appropriate volunteering placement where they can undertake a minimum of 60 hours of volunteering over a period from October of their Level 5 to March of Level 5. The volunteering placement can be an already existing one which the student has been involved with, but any hours undertaken outside this time frame will not count towards this module.
Reflection: students will complete a report reflecting upon the practical skills gained through the experience and what they have learnt about the application of theoretical understanding in a practical setting.
