(2) Evaluate the application of those models to practical issues of managing organisational change such as leadership and resisitance
(3) Research and analyse the process of change in a selected organisation
(4) Demonstrate experience of working within a team and presenting information, analysis and evaluation.
Models of change: types and pace of change; range of organisational responses using case studies.
Culture and Leadership: centrality of organisational culture in responding to change both in terms of resistance and successful implementation.
Techniques for managing organisational change: planning; implementation; managing resistance; encouraging creativity and addressing ethical concerns.
The new world of work: the knowledge economy; career development; coping with change; changing working patterns.
Reality of organisational life: use of text and video case studies; guest speakers dealing with change management issues.
Lecture schedule supplemented by guest speakers.
Tutorial format occasionally in the form of practical sessions involving simulations and activities.
In semester 2, workshops will be facilitated to support the group research process.
