Further Details Relating to Assessment
For this assessment, you will need to take part in a 20-hour work-based experience. This may be done via volunteering (spread throughout the year) or in a two-week block at the end of the year or via a two-week Professional Challenge Project. You will have the chance to opt which path you want to take during the module. This will enable you to gain first-hand experience of a professional environment, presenting yourself to employers in a professional manner, and applying your psychology learning in a real-world context. A pass in volunteering or work-based experience will include input from the organisation. A pass in the Professional Challenge Project will be achieved through participation in key tasks throughout the project.
You will take part in a badge portfolio which is designed to encourage active participation, skill development and professional growth during your degree. You will need to earn a maximum of 10 badges (2% each) by completing a number of activities such as but not limited to developing an infographic using Adobe Express, presenting as part of a group, attending a conference, completing a LinkedIn Learning course, seeking career support from the Careers+Placements team, and engaging with the Learning Hub. Evidence for each badge will be signed off by your personal tutor.
At the end of your volunteering, two-week Professional Challenge Project or two-week work-based experience, you will need to develop/update a CV and complete a 1,500-word skills-based reflection on your experiences. You will need to evidence your skill quest badges, career passport engagement and skills mapping form. By completing all components of the assessment, you will develop and be able to demonstrate your understanding of the professional behaviours of a psychologist and apply psychology to career development and real-life situations.
