Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
,br>
1. Devise, plan and complete a collaborative project with an employer or a skills development project with a tutor.
2. Manage their time effectively when working on a project and use reflective learning to improve performance.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the particular employment sector to which their project relates.
4. Report effectively on their project work and its significance.
5. Reflect on their personal development in relation to the LTU graduate attributes framework.
This module enables students to retain an element of work-based learning in their final year programme, by:
1.Spending time working with an employer during the year, focussing on completing a specific project for the employer, related to their subject, and reflecting on what they have learned from this experience, OR
2. Developing a chosen employability skill through independent learning (e.g. LinkedIn Learning, relevant professional training, completing a professional certification) and producing a project in relation to that skills development, OR
3. Combining elements of 1 and 2 above.
Employability and professional development will be supported by group taught sessions (at least 4 sessions in semester 1 and scheduled support sessions in semester 2) with input from the module leader and Careers+Placement staff.
These will be designed to introduce the requirements of the module and also reinforce the implementation of the LTU Key Employabilty Principles from Level 4 and 5. Topics covered will include career research and reflection on skills as well as topics such as approaches to work-based projects, managing time on projects, skills audits, guidance and advice on negotiating project outcomes and negotiating and agreeing their approach to assessment, along with subject contextualisation and reflective practice.
Students will also be offered individual tutorials with the module leader to check on progress in choosing and negotiating a project, completing the required proposal and risk assessment forms, and completing the project.

Further details relating to assessment
Assessment 1: Project Outline
The assignment will include a project outline, a reflective outline of the student’s approach, and intended outcomes of the project or training. This assignment will form the basis of the Tripartite Sign-off Form verified by employer and signed off by tutor, including the agreed pattern of working hours.
Assessment 2: Placement and/or Training Project
The pass/fail mark will be determined on the basis of evidence from the student’s timesheet, and feedback from the employer and the module leader.
Students must meet the requirements for getting their project approved and registered and the completion of 40 hours of work on the project must be confirmed by the project host and / or module leader.
Assessment 3: Final Project Report and Reflections after completion of the project.
This would normally be a written report, including an outline of the employer and labour market information (LMI) for the employment sector within which they work; a detailed report on the project; and reflections on achievements, challenges, problems and skills acquired, keyed as appropriate to the My Careers Skills Assessment completed before the project; as well as reflection on lessons learned for the future in terms of employability and next steps towards graduate employment. It should be academic and scholarly, with reference made to appropriate secondary sources. The assessment form (eg Word document,
Adobe Express report, video) will be negotiated and agreed with the module leader.
For all projects a tripartite proposal form will be required, which will include the details of the project outline by the student and be verified by the employer and signed off by the module leader. A completed Risk Assessment form must also be completed before the project can be signed off. Any project attempted without the required forms being completed and approved will receive a Fail outcome.
