Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module will examine public health promotion initiatives created by a range of organisations and the key methods used to improve health at a local, national and international level. The module covers key theoretical concepts and strategies used when designing, implementing and evaluating public health interventions, in relation to physical, mental and social health. You will be introduced to the role of social media, digital marketing and influencing for health promotion and examine how these approaches are used to promote health. You will examine how the wider determinants of health differ between population groups, countries and regions. Students will be taught evidence-based techniques to enhance their skills to enable students to facilitate behaviour change effectively across specified settings and population groups.

Essay: Students will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of global health challenges and the wider determinants which influence health and how these differ between countries and regions. Students will choose a specific population group to focus on (for example children and adolescents, or adults). and critically discuss the key determinants in relation to health and wellbeing amongst the population group. Students will choose two key determinants to focus on and critically discuss how these impact health, and how these differ between countries and regions. Students will then demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of ways to tackle wider determinants of health to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.
Oral Presentation: Students will choose a public health promotion initiative (campaign, programme etc) and provide details of the target population, key concepts and strategies utilised to promote health; and critique the strategies used in relation to the health behaviour, population group and setting of the health initiative.
