SHN5053 - Coaching Pedagogy

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

The module serves to examine the skill aquisition and motor learning process and the application of such within sports coaching. This will specifically have a focus on youth development coaching by taking into consideration a review of the appropriate coaching interventions based on an individual’s stage of learning. Furthermore, the learning preference of athletes will also be considered and implications for coaching strategies will be critically examined to investigate individualising practices and being effective across differing coaching contexts.

E-resource: Students are to compose an electronic educational resource that demonstrates an understanding of coaching pedagogy and conveys such knowledge via practical coaching recommendations.

Essay: The work should be accompanied by a written piece justifying the content of the electronic educational resource with reference to specific population groups.
