Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module presents an applied focus that enables the student to work towards one assessment goal designed to support their exploration of how psychologist model human behaviour and how this can be modified in the context of health, within a relevant population. Students analyse and debate a range of issues and problems in Health Psychology, examine and appraise these issues and areas and assess the key factors involved; distinguish and differentiate key processes of interaction between the Psychological, Social and Biological functions that lead to illness and compare and evaluate the relevant factors; demonstrate knowledge of key models and processes in Health Psychology from both UK and international perspectives; be aware of the practice and ethical issues involved in Health Psychology. Each week students will look at a different contemporary health issue in the context of behaviour and health outcome e.g. physical activity in pregnant women and the general population, smoking in lower social economic status groups.
