Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
Having previous developed a foundational knowledge of core sport psychology topics (at level 4) and applied these in relation to different athletic/client groups (at level 5), this module looks to provide a critical analysis of the differing organizational contexts and factors which might influence a sport psychologist’s applied practice.
Topics and themes adopted from both organizational and cultural sport psychology will serve as a focal point throughout this module, providing a reflective perspective on the diverse and unique range of individuals and organizational contexts that typify applied sport psychology practice. Critical consideration will also be given to the ethical and theoretical frameworks and philosophies that underpin ‘effective’ applied practice.

Further details relating to assessment
The two negotiated assessments that comprise this module will allow students the flexibility to apply their module learning to real-world or personal organizational contexts, to help consolidate their learning and to further contextualise their knowledge about sport psychology across varying levels of sporting performance. In doing so, students will be encouraged to develop a critical appreciation of some of the organizational factors (e.g. performance culture, clients’ cultural backgrounds, level of competition etc.) that should inform and influence effective and ethical applied sport psychology practice.
