MFC5005 - Collaborative Photography

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

Through lectures delivered on the historical and ethical contexts of the role of photography and community, you will form an understanding of the power balance between photographer and subject and learn about the socially engaged photographic movement and its practitioners. From this you will devise your own project that is meaningful to both audiences and participants and is embedded within a critically engaged and ethical framework. By producing a body of work in collaboration with participants which will be shown to audiences, you will understand the importance of collaboration, communication and planning.

Assignment 1: A portfolio of photographs (15 - 18 images)

Assignment 2: A 1,000-word research file underpinning and supporting the submitted photographic work.

Early Assessment:there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system.

002 Research file; 1,000 words;end of semester 1 40%
