Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module offers vital insight, knowledge and an awareness of professional roles, public affairs and the regulatory responsibilities of journalists. It provides a critical understanding of the political and commercial structures within which the media operate. These include parliament, NHS and treasury, welfare, the history of the EU, councils, education, Prime Minister, elections and constitution.

Exam: This will be a 90-minute-long open book exam set internally, offering ten questions covering subject areas taught during Semester 1. Candidates will see this paper in two parts: Section A, offering five marks per question and Section B, offering 15 marks per question.This is to be submitted via Moodle. .
This module provides Public Affairs content for NCTJ and BJTC requirements.
The council visit forms part of BJTC accreditation. .
Early Assessment: there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system. .
