Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module will build on the level 4 Introduction to Social Policy and Work With Families, and it is about understanding the social context and evolution of families. It will frame understandings of how different forms of family life are now featuring in our society.
Family life will be seen in its internal development, how the members of the family share life together, and it will also be seen in its external manifestations, that is, how families have to adapt to their social environment, primarily thinking about work. This module will broadly reflect the well-established discipline of sociology of families.

Students will be encouraged to use a range of formats to provide information for the portfolio, including digital artefacts. Further information will be provided in the Module Handbook. There will be opportunities to review drafts mid semester.
Guidance will be provided early on in the semester to help unpack the assignment details for the first assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation in line with the university grading system.
The Integrated Assessment can be negotiated and may include one of the following: Professional Case Conference, short video or documentary, portfolio exhibition, use of media with accompanying narrative / blog. The assessment will draw upon your learning from other level 5 modules.
Formative assessment by self and peers will be integrated into sessions.
