Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module introduces you to the fundamentals of injury rehabilitation. You will review the work covered at Level 4 on the healing process and link this to the various stages of rehabilitation, learning how to plan and implement a comprehensive rehabilitation and reconditioning programme.
You will explore key components of rehabilitation including goal setting, the responses of the body to exercises and the effects of inactivity / immobility on the body and individual joints. Various strategies for rehabilitation will be introduced with a focus on evidence based, patient centred care.
Adjunct therapies will also be introduced including the application of cryotherapy, thermotherapy and taping and bracing.
The module will introduce issues of the lack of diversity in healthcare research and the challenges faced around inclusion. They will examine how these issues effect the generalisability of study findings in relation to injury rehabilitation.
