PSY6105 - Health Psychology

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module explores the breadth of health psychology from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Indicative content includes an introduction to contemporary issues in Health Psychology. Covering topics in health, illness and healthcare including the psychological and biological effects of exercise participation, placebo effect, experience of treatment, theories of behaviour, modelling and changing human behaviour to improve health, communication in healthcare and careers with health psychology.

The assessment will be a three-part report outlining the three areas of health psychology with a critical review of current evidence

There will be opportunities throughout each component of teaching sessions for fomative assessment to take place.
