Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module focuses upon the application of psychology in the context of teaching and learning. It will explore key psychological theories of learning and the pedagogical implications of these. Teacher and learner philosophies will be deconstructed, acknowledging variability and diversity. A range of tools and techniques to enhance teaching will be considered (e.g. the learning pit, storytelling). Reflective practice is central to the effective development of both learner and practitioner, and strategies to faciltate and record this will form part of the module

Lesson plan and delivery: As a group, students will devise a lesson plan based on a theme negotiated via discussion with the teaching team, and submit this a week before delivery. The group will be asked to deliver the 30 minute session to a specified target audience, which will include time for discussion questions. The assessment of this section will include a focus on the integration and use of pedagogical strategies. The written reflective account will relate to the session plan and delivery, along with personal development.
