On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Create an ethically approved research proposal with a detailed and specific method to examine the project aims.
Negotiate the successful collection of data from specific source/s.
Working within the approved ethical framework, conduct and write up an original and relevant research project in the form of a journal submission.
Critically evaluate within their academic writing, the success of the individual research project.
The dissertation is the module that represents the pinnacle of the MSc in Health and Wellbeing. It is intended to incorporate a piece of planned research into an aspect of professional practice. In doing so, students will consider, analyse, critically reflect on and synthesise existing research findings and practice in the field. They will also undertake, evaluate and discuss the implications of an in-depth investigation on a topic of their choice. A successful dissertation demonstrates that the student can conduct and manage a credible research project or work-based project that has a potential impact on their own particular professional context.
The module will be delivered using a mixture of face-to-face intensive lectures, workshops, and tutorials, supported with e-learning resources. The students will draw upon their learning from other modules to inform their approach to undertaking their project. There will be a large independent study component to the dissertation
