Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module develops students’ employability skills by immersing them within the workplace. Initially the students will plan a teaching experience to be undertaken within three afternoons in a secondary school setting. This allows us the opportunity to observe the students team-teaching within a mini ‘teaching-practice’ context. The different age groups and national curriculum content will challenge pupils in a different way to the initial Level 5 module taught within a primary setting. The second half of the module will include a more traditional placement in the workplace which is four weeks in duration. The two placements will allow the students the opportunity to build up a portfolio of teaching and coaching experiences. If the students wish to complete the longer 20 day placement over a year long period they are able to do this.

Further details relating to assessment
The assessment has three components. The first will be a series of Key Stage 3 or 4 lesson / session plans which students will produce before going on placement in a secondary school. The second will be a series of observations by a staff member which asses a students’ teaching or coaching abilities. This will also take place within a secondary school. The final assessment will reflect upon the school experience and the 20-day placement experience and will be a reflective report.
