Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
You will gain an understanding of health-related benefits of physical activity, an overview of current physical activity guidelines across the lifespan and an insight into historical and current trends in the UK. You will learn how physical activity levels in the UK compare with international examples. You will gain an understanding of models of behaviour change and how they can be applied in facilitating positive physical activity behaviours. Additionally you will learn about, and experience, activities designed to facilitate positive physical activity behaviours for a variety of population groups. Opportunities will be given to appraise current physical activity interventions, securing your own evidence-based physical activity intervention ideas.

Further details relating to assessment
Components 1 and 2 will be concerned with planning and then delivering a physical activity intervention for a target group. The lectures, seminars and practical will therefore focus upon the intervention. The assessment will include all aspects of an intervention including its justification and rationale, the practicalities of delivery and its evaluation and potential sustainability.
Finally, the essay will focus upon the broader Physical Activity Agenda and its rationale in terms of government and organisational policy.
