On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Identify and describe the specific requirements and demands of sport, exercise and / or physical activities.
Carry out a range of tests with a chosen individual to identify strengths and weaknesses in their sport, exercise and physical performance.
Identify and describe methods for improving an individual's sport, exercise and / or physical performance.
Describe how an individual's performance improvements can be evaluated.
Multi-disciplinary perspectives on sport, exercise and physical performance including, physiological, psychological, biomechanical, tactical, pedagogical and social. Knowledge of basic key theories will be introduced to illustrate these perspectives.
Multi-disciplinary perspectives on testing performance, such as lab and field-based tests, psychometric testing professional body criterion-based methods and normative data and their value in a range of settings.
Multi-disciplinary perspectives on improving sport, exercise and physical performance, including the processes specific planning and programming entails.
A range of methods for evaluating sport, exercise and physical performance, which includes interpreting and reflecting on the data.
The module will consist of a series of interactive lectures, workshops and practical. In the lectures and workshops the key topics will be explored and basic theories will be introduced. In the practicals, students will apply the knowledge gained in the lectures and workshops to a practical setting. This may include lab sessions, field-based activities and practical sport and exercise activities.
The module will incorporate a range of interactive modes ranging from debates, to guided independent work, to paired and group work.
Learning will also take place online where students can access a range of resources on the VLE including using multiple choice activities to evaluate their own level of understanding.
Students are expected to conduct around 250 hours of independent study in reading, preparation for taught delivery and preparing assessment for submission.

Poster Presentation
This will require the students to produce a poster which highlights the demands and characteristics of a chosen sport, exercise and / or physical activity and how they would assess a client to determine strengths and weaknesses. Students will be required to present their poster in a 5 minutes presentation.
Coursework (1)
This will consist of a negotiated assessment format in which the students can select a suitable method to present an intervention of how they can improve their client’s weaknesses.
Coursework (2)
This will comprise a reflective piece of written work that summarises what has been learnt and how this applies to their choice of programme.
