On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Develop primary curriculum and subject knowledge in areas of the Foundation Subjects;
Explain and evaluate a range of pedagogical approaches used to develop children's learning in the subject areas studied;
Evaluate pedagogical and assessment processes in the context of Key Stage 1 and 2 settings;
Evaluate whole-curriculum approaches in the context of Key Stage 1 and 2 settings.
In this module, students will further develop their knowledge and understanding of pedagogical approaches and methods for teaching the full curriculum. It builds on PED 4332 to cover current issues and evaluate a range of sources in relation to teaching and learning across foundation subjects.
The module will give students a deeper understanding of pedagogical and assessment processes which underpin high quality delivery of foundation subjects.
Current approaches to curriculum-wide planning, teaching and assessing will be evaluated. There will be opportunity for students to explore cross-curricular experiences, including outdoor learning.
Taught sessions will include a variety of approaches to promote active and collaborative learning. Off-site sessions for field-work will be included in the module.
