Through a blend of theoretical and practical work, students will receive an introduction to scriptwriting, including: ideas generation and development, narrative structure, character development, synopses, treatments & One Pages. Further details relating to assessment
Assessment 1: a portfolio that will contain completed exercises; these will comprise weekly tasks (writing, research, case studies).
Assessment 2: a portfolio building on skills and knowledge acquired in Semester 1; this assignment will be a more detailed progression and include a script, a statement of relevant research and case studies.
The module will contain an element of Peer Assessment and this will be negotiated with the cohort. It is envisaged that the short scripts produced will be the focus of this peer-assessed aspect.
Early Assessment: there will be a formative assessment within the first 4 weeks and this will help unpack the assignment details for the 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation and help introduce the University grading system.
