ICE7033 - Leading and Managing Family Support

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Critically reflect on the leadership and management issues associated with processes and outcomes in Family Support
Synthesise the literature concerning the vulnerable children and families’ policy and examine leadership and management associated with its application
Examine the leadership and management of complex decision-making in Family Support and integrated working
Demonstrate a conceptual understanding that enables them to evaluate critically current research and advanced scholarship in the discipline and to apply this in practice.

Content:

• Examination of the leadership and management issues associated with processes and outcomes in family support.
• Critical analysis of the process of engaging family support services in strategic implementation of policy associated with vulnerable children and families.
• Examination of leadership and management in complex decision-making in Family Support.
• Explore leading and managing family support practice, developing the ability to compare, contrast and critically analyse outcomes of leading and managing integrated practice with children and families.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of, and analytical approach to leadership and management in a muulti agency context.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning and teaching are based on a range of methods including short lectures, e working and tutorials (both small group and individual to embed learning). Emphasis is placed on teamwork, group discussions, small group and paired working and tutorial support.
