Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.
This module prepares students to be assessed against the national Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) standards, leading to the award of HLTA status. It is intended for teaching assistants who are already demonstrating high levels of capability and who are seeking to develop themselves professionally. The module focuses specifically on how to present evidence of current practice in order to meet the national standards and there is a critical essay to contextualise the standards within wider educational narratives. See additional student guidance. There is also an additional reflective review required when you sit this module at Level 5.

The written critique will contextualise the standards within wider educational narratives. There is an additional reflective review required when you sit this module at Level 5.
Students will have opportunities for formative assessment across the year and in particular during consolidation week. This will help unpack the assignment details for their 1st assignment as well as guide and inform student preparation in line with the University grading system.
