FDA5053 - Play and Learning

Objectives:

Assessment tasks are designed to enable students to demonstrate the Learning and Employability outcomes for the relevant level of study. Level Learning Outcomes are embedded in the assessment task(s) at that level. This enables a more integrated view of overall student performance at each level.

Content:

This module critiques a range of early learning theories, including cultural and social perspectives, and the approaches of different curricula. The role of play is debated in supporting the learning, communication and holistic development of children within the early years sector. This will include approaches to plan, observe and assess early learning which works in partnership with parents and multi-agency professionals.

The planning documentation will include reflections regarding the observation and assessment of early learning with parents and multi-agency professionals.

Students will have opportunities for formative assessment across the year to guide and inform student preparation in line with the University grading system.
