On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate key practical skills relevant to physiology.
Critically evaluate and discuss contemporary issues in relation to performance physiology.
Design and undertake a research study in a field related to performance physiology.
Analyse and interpret physiological data from laboratory tests of physiological function.
Exercise and heat stress, exercise and altitude, dehydration and hydration strategies, infections of the respiratory tract, immune function and exercise, ergogenic aids and doping. The module will provide students the opportunity to utilise and further enhance practical and research skills learnt through their course.
This module will consist of interactive lectures where the key theoretical underpinning is established, followed by laboratory sessions where this theoretical underpinning is further explored and applied through a range of practical activities. There will be a range of individual and group work activities throughout the module..
