On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and functions of an Educational Psychologist/Educational Psychology Services;
Demonstrate knowledge of key historical and contemporary pieces of social and educational legislation affecting children;
Demonstrate knowledge, theories and models of how and why children learn from both UK and international perspectives;
Demonstrate knowledge of the different methods of assessing children in learning environments.
Introduction to the work and disciplines within Educational Psychology. The key social and educational policies that have shaped children's historic experiences of education. The roles and functions of EP within an educational context. The key theories and models of learning. The assessment of children in an educational context. The role of the Educational Psychologist and the role of Educational Psychology within a national framework including important educational legislation.
The module will be delivered via weekly student-led activities. The VLE will provide access to supplementary material and module guidance.
