On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Devise and produce a radio artefact utilising production and technical skills effectively;
Devise and produce a television artefact utilising production and technical skills effectively;
Communicate the results of their findings clearly and effectively.
The module is an option module for those who want a taster of radio AND television, in order to have pre-requisite knowledge to take a full 20-credit module in either TV or Radio at Level 6. Those taking this module would have a taste of radio, most likely joining the semester for half of the teaching, and similarly with radio in the other semester. Students will learn the basics of TV and radio production.
This module is taught via a series of interactive workshops which use innovative and creative teaching methods in order to foster student engagement and develop practical skills. The focus is on student-centred practice, using a broad range of simulated news exercises which allow the cohort to use their practical skills in a safe environment where they benefit from tutor feedback and mentoring on an ongoing basis.
