Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Critically analyse and formulate judgements on concepts and theories relating to the study of people in organisations within an organisational, group and individual context
Examine and assess the link between HRM strategies and policies and the broader issues of organisational performance and the business environment in different organisational settings
With critical awareness, analyse and debate cultural and institutional environments and their effects, in relation to management generally and HRM specifically
Exercise autonomy in the evaluation of group processes and characteristics, including team working, communication and managing diversity
Critically evaluate current research on the impact of occupational stress and conflict on people in organisation

Content:

The module aims to critically examine and assess the management of people within organisations by exploring the behaviour and attitudes of groups and individuals. It explores current research into the ways in which organisations and their employees can work together, contributing to the success of an enterprise.

Further details relating to assessment
The group project is devoted to the elaboration of a motivation system for a given organisation. The assignment (report) will concern human resource management in an institution chosen by the student and include topics like: psychological and organisational aspects of managing people, conflict and stress management, etc. The combination of a group project and assignment allows students to apply both the teamwork, self-management, communication etc. skills they develop during the module as well as the direct assessment of these skills and the individual knowledge that students are expected to acquire throughout the module.
