Content:

The potential interaction between IT and organisational strategy is now readily recognised. Not only can IT support an organisation’s strategy, it can also ‘make’ strategy and create strategic choices. IT can play a major role in opening new distribution channels, streamlining supply chains and providing efficient electronic markets. Experience suggests that achieving effective use of IT in this way can be difficult. This module addresses why this is the case and how we can think about these issues constructively. The module is not about technology itself, but about obtaining the business benefits that technology can facilitate.
Making IT a strategic asset
The potential value of IT
Aligning IT with business strategy
IT value transformation: triggers, objectives, benefits and risks
Focusing on outcomes
IT portfolio management
IT governance
Measuring success
Leadership and management in IT

Learning and Teaching Information:
