MFC4151 - Television Production

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
demonstrate a basic competence in television studio operations;
Demonstrate a basic competence in location filming and basic editing
demonstrate a basic competence in scripting for TV STUDIO;
evaluate their learning in a written format

Content:

Television Studio will include a studio familiarisation exercise; introduction to the main elements of the TV studio and gallery; scripting, performance and production.

Learning and Teaching Information:

This module is taught via a series of interactive workshops which introduce students to the TV studio environment, the different roles and the practical skills involved. The module will be taught across both semester to accommodate all students on MFC programmes but students will spend one semester doing this module and one semester doing the 10-credit radio module.

Further Details Relating to Assessment
Portfolio 1 will normally include a ten minute, group-produced TV programme, individual script, and an individual evaluative report. The detailed requirements of the Portfolios will be published in the module handbook.

Directed activities: These consist of weekly tasks that must be completed and submitted for inspection at timetabled sessions each week. The assessment will be on a pass/ fail basis with a pass requiring at least 75% of all weekly tasks successfully completed. A pass mark will lead to the full award of 10% towards the final mark. A fail in directed activities will contribute 0% to the final mark.
