On successful completion of the unit, students will be able to:
Record and evaluate their performance in the units they are studying.
In terms of both their programme performance and integration into UK HE, identify areas of strength to build on areas for further development.
Draw up a personal and academic development plan to foster progression throughout the programme.
This unit allows students to work on a one-to-one basis with an Academic Advisor to monitor and evaluate all aspects of their development, in terms of both the Pre-Masters Programme and living in the UK.
Students will be expected to keep a progress journal to identify strengths and areas for develop- ment and improvement.
The unit uses one-to-one sessions with an appointed Academic Advisor. Academic Advisors will liaise with unit tutors, as appropriate, to ensure students are fully supported in all areas of study.

The progress journal is expected to form the basis of discussion in the weekly meetings with Academic Advisors. Academic Advisors will, in many instances, be able to provide the help and guidance required to address areas of concern, through the weekly meetings. Where issues arise which cannot be addressed in this way, the Academic Advisor will put the student in touch with appropriate support.
