On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a critical engagement with research into primary education
Develop an area of personal interest in primary education
Demonstrate an understanding of a range of research traditions and their application to the primary classroom
Carry out an action-research small scale project focusing on an area of personal interest and practice
Analyse data from project outcomes
Use data analysis to form logical conclusions regarding their own professional practice
In this module students will:
• Receive input on how to carry out action research, analyse data and draw appropriate conclusions
Most of the module involves the practical research stage which will be supported by online tutorials, one to one tutorials with module tutor and online support materials. Students will be encouraged to share their research journey with others in the group as it progresses via the VLE.
