On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
demonstrate the ability to plan a project from initial creative idea to evaluation of the final product;
demonstrate the ability to work individually and as part of a team;
learn the importance of time management and forward planning;
develop the skills to gain independent evaluation and feedback.
During this module, students will undertake their own television production from scratch. The first semester will be focused on research and development; coming up with the original idea, pitching to the commissioning editor and completing pre-production stages, which will include developing a story-board and draft script, identifying potential programme subjects/interviewees and locations and carrying out investigations (or “recces”) and risk assessments. In the second semester, students will proceed through the production and post-production phases to complete their final product and then use at least 3 methods to gain independent evaluation of the success of their product.
This module will include lectures, tutorials and a number of interactive workshops before students work under individual/group supervision
