MFC6412 - Live TV

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
demonstrate an understanding of all aspects of creating live television programmes;
demonstrate the ability to create live television programmes;
attain the skills to operative effectively and safely in a live studio and/or location environment;
display an understanding of the production roles involved in live television production across a range of different programme genres.

Content:

Students will acquire a detailed knowledge of live television production across a range of programme genres, including news, magazine, entertainment and chat show.
They will further develop their knowledge and experience of different production roles involved in live television on both sides of the camera and will develop the skills to create a range of live television programmes from initial idea to final broadcast streamed online.
They will further develop their skills in a range of key production areas, including camera, sound and lighting across a range of genres. The module will culminate in the group production of consecutive studio-based magazine shows in Semester 2.

001 Group live production and individual critical evaluation 1000 word equiv. during/end of sem 1 30%
002 5 x group live magazine programmes plus individual reflection 3000 word equiv during semester 2 70%
