CYP6172 - Leadership and Multi-Agency Teamwork

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Critically analyse the roles and responsibilities of managers and leaders working in early years’ settings in the context of a theoretical framework;
Critically review theory in relation to inter-professional working in practice.

Content:

This module develops the students’ ability to review practice, policy and theory, relating it to particular incidents and circumstances. Students are expected to draw on previous experiences and learning in order to evaluate case studies. Within this module, students will be expected to demonstrate professional development skills through the creation of professional development plans. Current policy guidelines will provide the context e.g. Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Common Core of Skills & Knowledge and National Occupational Standards.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will take place via lectures and in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions. Formative assessment will form part of the taught sessions and will involve students participating in self, peer and group assessment.

Students will be provided with a simulated case study situation to which they will be expected to apply their learning and understanding by analysing roles and responsibilities within a theoretical framework.
