On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
(1) identify principles of effective interpersonal relationships and team working;
(2) demonstrate knowledge of assessment centre tasks;
(3) reflect on personal strengths and weaknesses and understand appraisal schemes in employment;
(4) apply knowledge and skills gained from studies in college;
(5) demonstrate satisfactory performance across the pre-placement preparation and placement periods.
Students will undertake a professional development pre-placement programme; interpersonal skills, team working, managing problems at work; assessment centre tasks; appraisal systems in employment.
Students will be placed within an appropriate organisation.
The detailed nature of the placement will be the subject of a formal “learning agreement” between the student, the placement provider and the college.
Lectures, workshops and tutorials comprise the pre-placement programme which precedes the block placement period.
A pre and post placement tutorial and a meeting during the placement are held between student and professional mentor.
