On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Identify research trends in sport psychology.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the psychological measures.
Collect and analyse data pertaining to psychological study.
Identify implications of sport psychology research in practice.
The content of this module should consistently change to match research trends while providing sound underpinning established theory.
At the time of writing, research trends have included topics such as confidence, anxiety and coping, mental toughness, emotional intelligence, motivation, confidence, cohesion, and applied practice to inform coaching.
Theoretical concepts are introduced in lectures before being discussed further in seminars. Seminars contain interactive tasks such as psychometric assessment and analysis. Seminars also support learning through discussion, supported further with online support forums, quizzes and reading activities.
