Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the contemporary
attitudes towards sport and physical activity amongst children and young people.
Demonstrate an awareness of how practical activities might be structured to facilitate children’s understanding and skill development.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key agencies and agents involved in sports development.
Demonstrate awareness of current and potential sports development opportunities in the school and community for young people.
Communicate effectively using a variety of methods.
Benefits of physical activity for children and young people; current levels of physical activity; the role of activity in children’s physical development; sociological influences on physical activity; environmental determinants influencing participation; age specific physical activity recommendations.
Sport development in the UK; practical sport development planning; sport development policy; agencies and partnerships in sport development; specific examples: eg Sport England, Youth Sport Trust, School Games; Sport and physical activity interventions.
