On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and functions of an Educational Psychologist/ Educational Psychology Services
Demonstrate knowledge of key pieces of educational legislation
Demonstrate knowledge of key theories and models of how and why children learn
Demonstrate knowledge of the different methods of assessing children in learning environments
Introduction to the work and disciplines within Educational Psychology. The roles and functions of EP within an educational context. The key theories and models of learning. The assessment of children in an educational context. The role of the Educational Psychologist and the role of Educational Psychology within a national framework including important educational legislation.
The module will be delivered through via weekly formal lectures, with students attending one tutorial. The VLE will provide access to supplementary material and module guidance.
