On Successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the role of professional supervision in the Children, Young People and Families Service.
2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of own role in line managing a team.
3. Demonstrate critical reflective practice in case supervision
4. Demonstrate skills in developing staff and seld, and supporting staff.
Line Management
accountability for practice and quality of service including, managing team resources, delegation, workload management, performance appraisal, duty of cate, other-people management process.
Professional Supervision
with individuals or groups of workers to enable and support practice. Reviewing and reflecting on practice issues. Reviewing roles and relationships, evaluating outcomes of work and maximising opportunities for wider learning.
Continuing professional development
developing skills knowledge and attributes to carry out supervision and line management role.
Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and action learning sets. Students will be supported by VLE materials, directed reading and workshop sessions. Students will be encouraged to undertake evaluative reflective practice.
