MFC6504 - Digital Media Portfolio

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Critically evaluate the finished project and process
Efficiently document all aspects of the production cycle and present a personal and efficient brand
Demonstrate understanding, skill and knowledge of digital applications and practically demonstrate their relevance to the online social environment
Produce and ‘pitch’ a detailed project proposal

Content:

Students will form into teams, which will be internally branded and documented as if they were a company. Each team will plan, design and produce a multimedia digital project, across multiple platforms and launch online. It is intended that this module be the culmination of PDPM levels 4 & 5 and the team should work in a cohesive and effective manner - and be able to demonstrate this. The production artefact should be of professional quality.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The series of lectures will prepare students to plan and execute their projects. It is expected that the team consultations should be both physical and virtual. Virtual consultations will utilize non-physical digital interaction such as SMS, MMS, Chat, Video conferencing (eg. Hangout, Facetime, Skype), Screensharing, Cloud drives and social networking tools.

Further details relating to assessment
It is intended that the proposal be team produced and be agreed with the coordinator before week 5 at the latest. The portfolio will consist of the artefact and team built supporting documentation.
