On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Specify and evaluate technologies and their application as required for a project
Quantify the results, aims and objectives expected from a multi-media project
Use creative technologies in an application or presentation
Propose a creative technology application and document its parameters and reception
This module evaluates and produces online and offline multimedia graphical user interfaces for digital and social media devices, as well as the wider aspects of gaming, web-tv and audience participation systems.
In Part 1 students investigate and evaluate the reasoning, the production tools and experiences of the end user offered by digital multi-media: audio/music, image (2D, 3D, film, animation), interface design, interactive applications, computing and communications. Students will research, plan and propose an interactive multimedia interface.
In Part 2 students simulate new interface technologies for an application (online, mobile, DVD, program) by controlling and navigating media interactively, for example, dynamic menu systems, starting/ pausing/stopping/rewinding media such as video and animation, dynamically changing the page without reloading, data driven manipulation of HTML/CSS and media properties for size/ shape/colour and overall (dynamic) continuity.
Through a series of lectures and workshops, students will develop the skills to research, plan and propose an interactive multimedia interface. They will go on to simulate new interface technologies for an application.
