MFC4332 - Pathways, Planning and Process

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Analyse, research and interpret the requirements for a Creative Project Brief
Demonstrate media management and presentation skills
Structure and manage the Creative Project briefing process
Deliver clear planning, communication, risk assessment and project management for Digital Media via written, online and live presentation

Content:

This module puts forward an argument and structure for clear communication in digital project inception, definition, execution and review. Students will study and use a variety of tools for analysing need and identifying creative solutions for digital projects, alongside methods for project management of a multi-disciplinary team. Teaching methods will include role-plays, case studies, project management and research scenarios based around real examples from creative and digital projects.

Students will develop communication, presentation, problem-solving and persuasion skills, and the ability to give and receive instruction to enable management of a creative digital project. The students source and use learning resources appropriate to the tools they wish to adopt or evaluate to complete their project.

Assessments will be in the form of a group proposal and presentation of a creative solution to a digital brief, which will include evaluating appropriate digital, mobile and social media resources (on and offline). Part of the marks will be given for a clear adoption of a process in the planning of the project.

Learning and Teaching Information:

All materials for supporting the teaching will be delivered beforehand online, enabling the classroom throughout this module to be a place of role-playing, practising, discussing, and presenting. Students will work in small groups within the lessons, as well as on their own, and reflective practice will be encouraged to aid in both project management and learning.
