SHL4462 - Primary PE, Games and OAA

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key issues in Primary School PE relating to the delivery of games, athletics and OAA
2 demonstrate knowledge and understanding of primary National Curriculum PE
3 demonstrate understanding of the aims and content of games, athletics and OAA taught in primary school at key stage 1 & 2
4 plan and construct progressive games, athletics and OAA lessons with clear teaching objectives, tasks, teaching points, safety issues, progressive targets, observation and feedback.

Content:

National Curriculum PE Programmes of Study relating to Games, Athletics and OAA - KS1/KS2

The development of knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to children in the 5-11 age range ;
Risk assessment and safety, lesson planning, organisation, teaching method: task setting, demonstration, teaching points, observation, positioning, feedback, assessment
Differentiation in games / athletics / OAA using the STEP process; by task, outcome, peer assistance, adult intervention; monitoring pupil performance and reporting.
