PYP5042 - The Law: Whose Rights? Whose Responsibilities

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. Outline key legislation related to working with children, young people and families and identify responsibilities of key workers from these
2. Debate issues related to the rights of individuals
3. Critically review case studies related to legal challenges from individuals or those who work with them.

Content:

In this module students will be expectd to evaluate key legislation related to working with children, young people and families and identify rights and responsibilities within these.

Key themes include:
- Issues related to safeguarding children and young people.
- Individual's rights and how those working with them can enable individuals to maintain these.
- Access rights to key services.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
