PSY5052 - Seminal Studies in Psychology

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

(1) evaluate what constitutes a seminal study in psychology;
(2) evaluate the contribution of the studies in contemporary psychology theory;
(3) evaluate the methodolological strengths of the studies;
(4) relate the findings and implications of the studies to level 2 core psychology;

Content:

Progressing from the level 1 module Classic Studies in Psychology, the module asks students to examine and evaluate the contribution of influential studies to the respective fields in psychology. This module aims to complement and enhance the core level 2 modules. Semester 1 also serves as an introduction or 'taster' of level 3 module options to assist level 3 module selection.

Learning and Teaching Information:

The module is delivered through a series of lectures and discussion opportunities. Lectures with expertise in the filed will deliver each study. Consequently, a range of teachingf styles and approaches will be experienced.
