On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Evaluate the impact of key legislation related to children, young people or adults in a range of contexts
2 Analyse the roles and responsibilities of those working with vulnerable individuals
3 Debate key issues related to rights, safeguarding and welfare
4 Critically review case study evidence related to the law and practice within their own setting
In this module students will gain an understanding of key legislation related to a range of professional environments. Students will identify, research and debate key issues relating to rights, safeguarding and welfare and perspectives on the legal framework.
Students are expected to relate their research – including independent study of key legislation and frameworks for their own professional situation – to their own and their team’s role.
Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
