PEY6042 - Assessment for Learning

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Critically analysezapproaches to assessing learning for formative purposes
2 Analyse complex situations concerning human learning and development in particular contexts, including their own learning
3 Critically review research related to assessment of and for learning and effective practices to support learners

Content:

In this module students will evaluate assessment theory and practices for the assessment of and for learning.

Key themes include:
• Formative, summative, peer and self assessment
• Assessment practices in learning from 0 to adult learning settings
• Learning styles and assessment
• Reporting, recording observations and assessment

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
